The Markha Valley & Stok Kangri

Region: India

Trek Grade: 4 (Challenging)

Trek Duration: 9 days

Hotel-Leh & Delhi: 8 Nights

Season: May-Sept

Leh, Ladakh

This trip combines the great Tibetan Buddhist monasteries of Ladakh, a trek through the remote villages of the Markha valley, an ascent of 6153 m Stok Kangri, and a visit to one of the most famous monuments in the world, the Taj Mahal.  For those looking for adventure, culture, and mind blowing scenery all in one compact trip look to further.  Our trip begins in Delhi, India's historic capital.  From Delhi we will fly to Leh the administrative center of Ladakh on the western edge of the Tibetan plateau, a region heavily influenced culturally by neighboring Tibet.  Our first two days we will acclimatize to the 3500 m altitude of Leh with leisurely visits to several major monasteries in the Indus Valley, including the Thikse, and Alchi.  We well then start our trek through the famed Markha Valley culminating in the accent of 6153 m Stok Kangri.  The accent of Stok Kangri while difficult due to the high altitude it is non-technical and within the capability of fit and experienced trekkers with no previous climbing experience.
