Across Zanskar:

A classic trek across one of the more remote regions of the world.  Zanskar sits between the Great Himalaya range, which separate it from Himchal Pradesh and Kashmir, and the Zanskar range which separate the region from Ladakh.  Like Ladakh the region is primarily inhabited by Buddhists influenced by the culture of Tibet.  This trek begins at the spectacularly set monastery at Lamayuru in Ladakh.  From there nine days of trekking over numerous passes, through picturesque villages, and past ancient monasteries leads to the wide Zanskar valley, and its administrative hub Padum, connected by road to Kargil on the Leh-Srinagar road.  From Padum we leave civilization once again, and start the long accent over the Great Himalayan range via the 5000 m glaciated pass known as the Shinkul La.  En route we will visit, numerous villages as well as the famous monastery of Phuktal built into the side of a shear cliff high above the river below.  Finally arriving in Darcha in Himachal Pradesh on the Leh Manali road we will continue down to Delhi via Manali.  Back in Delhi we will visit Agra and the famed Taj Mahal before your final departure.
