Kanchanjunga

Kanchunjenga means"the mountain of jewels" and it is said that the famous sage Guru Padmasambhava buried the treasures of knowledge on this most beautiful mountain . It is so revered by the locals that the Lepchas of Sikkim dance in the tribute once a year. A 22 to 25 day trek takes you to the snowline through high pastures and into the romance of the mountain jewels. Much more than trek, it is a journey of discovery.

The Kanchunjenga range is possibly the last unexplored region of Eastern Nepal. Breathtaking views of the vast Himalayan range can be seen from the majority of the route's trails. Thick forests of rhododendron trees in the lower region and Yak grazing pastures at high altitudes always astonish us. This is a sparsely populated area. Mainly Sherpas, Limbu, Rai and Gurung communities live here. The people are not accustomed to receiving overseas tourists at their doorsteps and show great hospitality. The wild flowers are in full bloom during the months of April and May. Clear views of the mountains are also more likely during this period
